Ipod touch and linksys wireless router

How to connect your Ipod touch to the internet via WiFi.

So you have your Wireless-G Broadband Router up and working.

Go to http://192.168.1.1/ and open up the administration page for your router, make sure the wireless network is running in Status, Wireless.

I have:
Mode : G-Only
DHCP Server : Enabled
Channel : 6
Encryption Function : Enabled

Click on the Basic Setup tab and if the DHCP server is inabled, add another IP address to the range if it's necessary.

Then click on the Wireless menu, enable the Wireless SSID Broadcast radio button, save settings. Then click on the Wireless MAC Filter tab and disable it, save settings.

For me the Wireless Security tab looks like:
Security Mode : WPA Personal
WPA Algorithms : TKIP
WPA Shared Key : XXXXXXXX
Group Key Renewal : 3600 seconds

"WPA Shared Key" is basically your wireless password.

On your Itouch go to Settings, then Wi-Fi, select your network name and then input your wireless password.

You should be online now, open up safari and start surfing.

Go back to the admin page, click on Wireless MAC Filter tab, enable the Wireless MAC Filter radio button and the "Permit only :" button. Click on "Edit MAC filter list", a new window will pop up, you'll see a new MAC address, scroll down and save settings, then save the settings again on the Wireless MAC Filter page.

Go to Basic Wireless Settings and disable the Wireless SSID Broadcast.

You're now set!

cheers
